December 2011

No surprise, but Adirondack Chandler is still very busy during the holiday season. Today (November 29) I will be making Storm Candles. The Open House at the Shirt Factory this past weekend was successful, but if you missed it, we will have another one December 10-11.

This Saturday, December 3, Adirondack Chandler will be CLOSED as our beautiful granddaughter and her parents make a visit to Glens Falls. We will also, most likely, be closed the afternoon of Friday, December 2 as I have to make some deliveries to local consignment shops, as well as other deliveries.

Adirondack Chandler has TRUE BAYBERRY candles available to help you usher in the New Year. Burning a Bayberry Candle to the nub on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve is purported to bring you good luck in the coming year. Don't take any chances!!! Come in a get your candles!!!

Holidays

As you can imagine, Adirondack Chandler has been very busy with holiday preparations. Candles are always a great gift, placed on holiday tables they bring warmth to any meal, and shops and stores are stocking up before the Black Friday holiday. I have been working 11 hours a day just to keep up! But, it is time to give an update on what is going on in the studio.

This week Adirondack Chandler will be open Monday and Tuesday with regular hours. Regular hours are 9-12/1-4, but I am actually there at 7 a.m. and usually leave after 5 at a minimum. Wednesday I hope to be closed in preparation for Thanksgiving. Friday there is an Open House at the Shirt Factory from 10-5, but Adirondack Chandler will be CLOSED as we do have holiday plans that will prevent us from being open.

OPEN HOUSE will be Saturday, November 26 from 10-5, and Suday, November 27 from 11-4.
Adirondack Chandler candles are also available at the Brookside Museum in Ballston Spa, LARAC and at the Festival of Trees at the Queensbury Hotel this week.

We will be CLOSED Monday, November 28, but will be open November 29-Dec 2. Although we have been open on Saturdays during the holiday season, we will be CLOSED DECEMBER 3 as we have family plans.

The next OPEN HOUSE at the Shirt Factory will be Saturday, December 10 from 10-5 and Sunday, December 11 from 11-4.

We plan to be open Tuesday - Friday 9-4 or by chance as well as Saturday (with the exception of Dec 3) from 10-4.

Please feel free to contact Adirondack Chandler at 518-798-1800 if you have any questions or would like to know if we are in the studio. As mentioned, we are actually there a lot more than scheduled hours during the holiday season.

Wholesale show week October 17

The week of October 17 I will be attending a Wholesale Show in Saratoga Springs. I am preparing and packing for this show, so no dips are planned at this time. For next week, the week of October 10, I will be in the studio from 9-4 Monday through Thursday, but on Friday I have to leave at noon for a family matter.

Thank you for your understanding. I am working on fall and Christmas candles as I have the time. I plan to be open with regular hours the week of October 24.

It is a busy time for making candles, and unfortunately, my Mother's health is deteriorating. Our family is dealing with many issues regarding her health, care and future. I appreciate your understanding as my schedule is disrupted during this extremely difficult time.

Fall 2011

Happy Fall!

Now is the time people start thinking about candles. They are great additions to holiday tables, and Adirondack Chandler has just what you need! Our newest scent, Pumpkin Pie, brings home the sweet smell of baking in the home. Of course, our ever popular Balsam and Cranberry are traditional for the season. We have wonderful Fall colors, including Maple, Pumpkin Pie, Sunflower, Cranberry, Cinnamon and Cedar. And, of course, don't forget to get votives or tea lights for that jack-o-lantern!

Make sure to visit www.adkchandler.com to see our selections. Remember, if you order $50 or more, shipping is free! Otherwise it is a nominal $5.00 fee for all shipping.

Dipping is becoming more regular, with dipping scheduled for Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. I should have a proposed schedule up by next week. Today, September 29, I am making Cinnamon.

September 2011

It is hard to believe Labor Day is this weekend. This summer has flown by, and ended with a hurricane hitting our area leaving massive devastation in its wake. But, we are back to work, making candles and preparing for the upcoming fall and holiday season.

By next week I hope to have a regular schedule for dipping by next week. Normally dipping is on Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Weather, specifically heat, may still be an issue, but with the cooler nights hopefully the studio will cool enough to allow regular production.

After the Labor Day holiday, I will post an anticipated schedule of what scents will be made. I am working on some new products for Halloween, and hopefully will be able to introduce them next week.

Enjoy the last official week of summer!

August 2011

Hello all
It has been a tumultuous August. After a wonderful week of visiting my daughter, son-in-law and beautiful granddaughter, my elderly mother's health has begun a rapid deterioration. So my week started off with a 5 hour visit to the Emergency Room. Mother was admitted to the hospital in a very weakened state, required a lot of medical intervention and today (Friday, August 19) is being moved into a Rehab facility.

As a result, Adirondack Chandler will be closing early today to assist in getting my Mom transitioned and stabilized. My husband and I had planned a camping vacation starting tomorrow, and we still have high hopes that we will be able to go. We will be semi-local, and although cell service is spotty my family will be able to reach me if needed.

Once I return on the 29th plans are to start preparing for the upcoming holiday season. The summer season has passed by very quickly! It started with the happiness of the birth of my granddaughter, but is ending with the sadness of my Mother's declining health.

Dipping will hopefully resume upon my return on the 29th. Thank you for your understanding.

August 2011

It is hard to believe that August is here already! Because of the hot and humid weather, dipping schedules have been when I can manage to make the candles. Some days I am in here at 5 am trying to beat the heat, but I do enjoy the summer and being able to get outside. We are a long time cold here in the North Country, so we have to enjoy being outside as much as we can!

Based on that thought, I will be out of town for two separate weeks in August. Currently I am preparing for a show at the Lakeside Cider Mill in Ballston Lake August 6 - 7.

The week of August 8 - 13 I will be traveling to visit with my daughter, son-in-law and new granddaughter. It is hard to believe she is 2 months old already! Time does fly by, especially when babies are so young.

I will return the week of August 15 and work a normal schedule. Dipping will be at the mercy of the weather, but I plan to be here between 9-4, however check back if you plan to come that week as I do have two potential meetings lined up for early morning.

The week of August 20-26 I will be out of town on a much needed vacation. My husband and I love camping, kayaking, fishing, etc and this will be our first and only opportunity to get this in before the season ends. It is a much needed vacation for both of us, and although I am sorry I will miss you, I will return August 29 and plan to buckle down and get some serious work done (again, if the weather cooperates!).

Before you know it I will be making candles in preparation for the Christmas season! I can't believe how quickly the year has gone by.

Feel free to contact me at info@adirondackchandler.com if you need any more information!

ENJOY THE REMAINDER OF OUR SUMMER!

Dipping in July

Hello all

Today, July 7, I am dipping lavender candles in the afternoon.

Due to the weather, I hesitate to put up a schedule for dipping, but can let you know that I plan to dip on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, if possible. If the studio is over 80 degrees, dips will be cancelled. I also have some days that the studio will be closed as follows:

Closed July 8-11 for vacation
Closed July 13 for meeting

There is a possibility of other closures as family or other obligations require.

Note: There will be no dips planned for the week of July 11.

The studio will be opening late on July 27 as I have a meeting to attend in the morning.

If you wish to know if candles will be dipped, feel free to call the studio at 518-798-1800 or email me at info@adirondackchandler.com.

Thank you so much! HAPPY SUMMER!

New dipping schedule

Good day all. After a week of being with my beautiful daughter, wonderful son-in-law and precious new granddaughter, it is time to get back to business.

Dipping is back on schedule. Bear in mind that all dipping is subject to change, specifically if the weather causes the studio to be above 80 degrees. But, I will do my best to follow the routine of Tuesday and Thursday dipping, with the following planned dips:

Tuesday, June 14 - Sunflower
Thursday, June 16 - Blueberry

Tuesday, June 21 - Balsam (possibility of being postponed due to potential meeting)
Thursday, June 23 - Maple

Tuesday, June 28 - Rosemary
Thursday, June 30 - Lavender

Dipping usually takes place in the afternoon, from approximately1:30-3:30.

In July we will have a varied schedule due to some meetings. Adirondack Chandler will be closed July 4th, and I will be out of town July 8-13. There may be some other days during the summer that Grandma just HAS TO go and visit Rachael.

Always feel free to call the studio at 518-798-1800 if you want to see if I am there. Normal schedule is Monday - Friday, 9-12/ 1-4, but I am also there by chance other times.

Let's hope this summer turns around and we get some really nice, warm, sunny, non-humid days to enjoy!

BABY!

My granddaughter has arrived! Rachael Nicole Higgins was born at 9:10 pm on Thursday, June 2. She weighed 6 lbs 5 oz and measured at 19 inches long. Mother and baby are doing well, and grandma is EXCITED. We went to see our beautiful daughter and granddaughter, and I will be spending the next week helping them get settled and becoming acquainted with my newest famiy member

As a result, there will be no dips this week. We will be closed until next week. The phone has been forwarded to my cell phone, and I will be able to check email messages.

This is the most exciting thing in the world!!!

Baby is coming soon

My first grandchild is due to enter this world any time now. As a result, my schedule is tentative, because once she makes her appearance, Grandma is going to be traveling to hold that new life!

Regular dipping is Tuesday and Thursday as long as temperatures allow. If the studio is warmer than 80 degrees, dipping is cancelled.

For June dipping schedule tentatively is:

June 2 - Storm Candles
June 7 - Sunflower
June 9 - Blueberry
June 14 - Balsam
June 16 - Maple
June 21- Rosemary
June 23 - Lavender
June 28 - Gardenia
June 30 - Apple

These are subject to change dependent on orders, heat index, as well as baby's birth!

May - June

Hello all
May has been very busy. My first grandchild is due any minute, so my schedule has been very flexible as I try complete all that I can in anticipation of that phone call and meeting my new grandchild.

Dipping schedule is tentatively as follows (subject to change):

May 24 - Lake
May 26 - Lilac
May 31 - cancelled due to Memorial Day (preparation is done the day before)
June 2 - Storm candles
June 7 - Maple
June 9 - Cinnamon

Dips are usually done in the afternoon on Tuesday and Thursday, from approximately 1:30-3:30. Now that we are getting to the warmer months, weather does become a concern. So far we haven't had to worry, but if the temperature in the studio is above 80 degrees, dips are cancelled. Although Adirondack Chandler candles will withstand the heat, making them above 80 degrees causes production problems, and the candles do not cool correctly.

When my grandchild is born, I anticipate that my schedule will be modified. It is our first grandchild and we are VERY EXCITED!!!!

We will keep you posted!!!

May??

Good Day -- it is May right???? We had the April showers, and now it is time for the May flowers! But, in keeping with the stormy, gloomy weather, tomorrow we will be making Storm Candles. Stop by Thursday afternoon to see these unique candles being made on our old fashioned style carrousel.

Trying to get back to a normal Tuesday/ Thursday dipping schedule after a particularly difficult spring.

Hope you can stop in and "smell" the roses -- literally. We have single stem Rose Votive candles available in a variety of colors.

Here's to a sunnier spring!

Tuesday, April 26, 2011

Dipping schedule week of April 25

Back to a normal schedule... dipping on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
Tuesday, April 26 - Cranberry
Thursday, April 28 - Juniper

Week of March 28

April is almost here, but you wouldn't know it from the weather! But we are still preparing for our upcoming wholesale show. Today I will be making cinnamon firestarters, finishing up the new balsam b'air' fresheners, and doing some packing for the show.

Wednesday, March 30, will most likely be closed for the root canal procedure, round 3. Next week, Adirondack Chandler will be closed April 6 & 7 for the show in Saratoga Springs.

Stop in to see the new window installed in our door! It makes it much more inviting.

Spring is on the way -- according to the forecast it will start to warm soon!

March 2011

Let's hope Spring is in the air! Yesterday was absolutely beautiful, but we woke up to some sleet and snow this morning. But we are hopeful that it will clear and be a nice day.

Working on candles for our upcoming wholesale show in Saratoga April 6 & 7. Yesterday we made balsam products and will continue a few more today along with other soy and new crackling wood products.

On the 23rd we will be opening late due to a meeting in the morning, and most likely will close on the 30th as I continue to have more work done on the root canal. Based on my last two appointments, I usually am not up to working after an hour in a dental chair and Novocaine. But, otherwise still hopeful to get back to a regular 9-4 schedule Monday through Friday.

Dipping has been a bit haphazard lately. SOON I hope to be back to a regular Tuesday and Thursday schedule.

April 6 & 7 we will be closed for the ANCA show.

THINK SPRING!!!!

Wednesday, March 9, 2011

March is here

Hello all.....

We are back from sunny Florida and trying to get readjusted to the cold, Northeast winter. We left it was 5 below, but enjoyed 76 to 82 degree weather for the week. When we returned, it was 14. On Monday we were treated to 16 inches of snow, and are expecting 3-5 more tonight and tomorrow! Hoping for a change to spring soon!

But, in spite of all this, Adirondack Chandler is trying to be open for regular hours. Because of the snow on Monday, and the inability to keep the parking lot cleared, we opened late, but were here -- one of only two studios open! We want to get back to a normal schedule soon.

Today (March 9) we are making STORM CANDLES. We are still off our regular Tuesday / Thursday schedule, but have high hopes that we will get back to normal soon. We also are working on our products for the upcoming spring/ summer season.

Keep checking back for updates!

Sunday, February 20, 2011
